What About 2009?

10.08.2008 11:53 AM

I am just going to come out and say it, I am worried about 2009.  From what I read and hear, 2009 is is going to be a very tough year in many aspects of the financial world.  Whether these reports I hear are true or not, I will leave up to you to decide.  I do know however that with all of these financial companies either collapsing or being sucked up by other companies, there will definitely be a lot of vacant commercial space coming to the market in 2009.  How much space that will be, I am not sure.  Some reports have said that San Francisco will have around 500,000-750,000 square feet of space come to the market, but nobody will truly know until it happens.  I do think, however, tha

t if this much space does come on the market, the asking rents will have to come down and that may be a great time for you to get that corner office with a bay view for cheap.  Will 2009 be as bad as everybody says?  Will the the San Francisco market correct itself?  We can only wait and see.
