It seems as though people aren't claiming the Green movement is just a fad anymore. According to a recent article from the Albany Business Review: "Green building has caught on nationwide. There are LEED projects in 50 states and 69 countries." It's about time right? I remember when people started to talk about sustainable building and many companies laughed at it saying that it didn't make sense financially and the idea of building green would not last. Well, luckily they were wrong. I know here in San Francisco, buildings are going up left a
nd right and a majority of them have been built with sustainability in mind. As a potential tenant, you have the power to convince these landlords and developers that sustainable building is now a necessity. Next time you are touring a space, ask how their sustainable rating is. Ask if the building is LEED certified. Ask a million questions. The landlords and developers will soon realize that sustainable building is what their tenants are requiring and they will have to meet that need. If you want to see sustainable building progress, tell these developers and landlords how you feel. They make their money off of you, they will have to listen.
