Shingle Springs is a small Census Designated Place in El Dorado County with a population of around 3,000. Situated on Highway 50, Shingle Springs is about 40 miles east of Sacramento. The small community lies just 15 minutes from the historic towns of Placerville and Coloma; and got its name back in the days of the California Gold Rush where a horse-drawn shingle machine was set up in a camp by a natural spring.
