Chicago’s South Loop is still one of Chicago’s most rapidly growing neighborhoods. Given its close proximity to the Loop, lakefront, Solider Field, and Museum Campus the neighborhood remains popular for business and residents alike. The South Loop spans the area from Jackson Blvd (300 S) south to the Stevenson Expressway, and from Lake Michigan west to the Chicago River. The South Loop is home to Columbia College, Roosevelt University, East-West University, the School of the Art Institute, and the downtown campus of DePaul University. A major landowner in the South Loop is Columbia College, a private school that owns 17 buildings. The South Loop is the future home for DePaul University's new arena which will be used for men's and women's basketball teams, as well as midsized conventions, concerts and Chicago Public Schools events, such as graduations and Public League basketball games. DePaul is teaming up with the city to pursue this 70 million dollar investment with construction beginning in 2014 and to be completed in time for the 2016-17 basketball season.

The South Loop is also home to McCormick Place, the largest convention center in all of North America. McCormick Place consists of four interconnected buildings sited on and near the shore of Lake Michigan 2.5 miles south of downtown Chicago. McCormick Place hosts numerous trade shows and meetings. The largest regular events are the Chicago Auto Show each February, the International Home and Housewares Show each March and the National Restaurant Association Annual Show each May.
